Still Time at Audie's Olympic Tavern in Fresno, Ca
Still Time is one of my favorite bands. I was surprised to see them go on first an Audie's Olympic Tavern. They are a hard act to follow. They played a great set. The sound checked with Jimi Thing from Dave Matthews Band and played mostly from the second Album See America. Of course the did 9 to 5 and Hide Tide off of their first Album Stream of Consciousness. Gov't Mule - Soulshine I first heard this song in Chicago at Buddy Guy's Legends. I can't remember the guys name that was covering it but it caught my ear and it really caught my buddies, Sol, ear. It is kind of magical and keeps growing on me. The lyrics are pretty powerful. There is jsut so much emotion in this song. Barenaked Ladies here in Fresno... What? Last Friday, me and a buddy went to have dinner at Wassabi's in Fig Garden and he tells me his girlfriend is on the way over to Elbow Room to buy tickets for Barenaked Ladies. I asked him to call his girl and and see if she could hook me up with one too. That is how the whole thing started. There was barely 100 people there. I was surprised that it wasn't packed out. Thanks Y101 for making it intimate and relaxed show. I have uploaded 5 of the 7 songs that they preformed. My Favorite was Four Seconds. This was the first time seeing Barenaked Ladies live and I was really impressed with them. By the way I recorded this using Kodak Xi8 and I did not edit any of the footage. Barefoot Truth reminds me a little bit of Dispatch and Jason Mraz. These guys got groove and melody down and of course there is a fair amount of hand percussion. I always tend to gravitate to band that is very rhythmic in nature. The Drummer, Will Evans, is singer and so so you can tell a lot of the songs kind of start with the rhythm of the drums. Guster is defined by there awesome harmonies and one of the most amazing had percussionist I have seen Brian Rosenworcel. I think the video gives you some hints at his amazing talent. He reminds me of an octopus they way his arms are twist and turn finding the right drum to hit. Guster is very Beatle-isk in thier sound. All the members of the band sing except, Brian Rosenworcel, the drummer. Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, Brian Rosenworcel are the original founding members and Joe Pisapia joined in 2003. Brian. Guster is great live I saw them at the Berkley Theater a few years ago. I rank it the top 15 live shows I have seen. In fact you can download a show from 2000 here.
